We are delighted to support the University of Plymouth’s Marine Biology Graduates!
Each year we sponsor The Ocean Conservation Trust Prize for the Best Marine Biology Project relating to issues in Marine Conservation.
Over the years there has been a diverse range of interesting projects, each contributing to wider marine conservation research.
- 2021/22 – Laura Paling – Stability in pregnancy rate and distribution of the northern minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata): evidence for resilience against environmental change?
- 2019/20 – Kyran Graves – The distribution of Pheronema carpenteri (Porifera) in relation to oceanographic variability and other environmental drivers in the Porcupine Seabight, NE Atlantic.
- 2018/19 – Emma Zandt – Vents as natural analogues for future ocean acidification: assessing the diversity and bioaccumulation of trace elements in sponges in response to changing water chemistry.
- 2017/18 – Emma Longden – The influence of ambient noise and time of day on bottlenose dolphin, Tursiops truncates, signature whistles.
- 2016/17 – Holly Bateman – Bioaccumulation of trace metals in the seagrass Zostera marina within and around Plymouth Sound.
The prize winner gets a whole year’s free entry into our Centre of Ocean Excellence, the National Marine Aquarium, where they can see marine biology in action!
