The Ocean Conservation Trust is a global ocean conservation charity that exists to restore and protect the Ocean. Our work is centred around people and positive action through pro-ocean behaviour and habitat restoration. We’re committed to conserving the marine environment and inspiring others to do the same.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to be part of Mor Nature, Cornwall’s first seascape restoration initiative, helping to restore seagrass habitats and native oyster populations across the Fal and Helford Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
As a Seascape Ranger, you will play an important role in delivering Mor Nature’s community engagement programme. Working across the SAC, you will engage with local communities, recreational users and visitors, helping them to discover the local marine environment, understand the importance of seagrass and native oysters and feel inspired to take positive action to protect them.
You will support the planning and delivery of creative, inclusive and engaging activities, from public events and talks to citizen science initiatives and volunteering opportunities. Through these experiences, you will help people to connect with seagrass and native oysters and inspire lasting behaviour changes that support healthier seas and coastal communities.
Working alongside the Blue Meadows Community Engagement Manager, the Blue Meadows team and Mor Nature’s project partners, you will help to build positive relationships with local communities and support opportunities for community involvement within the project. A focus will be supporting the delivery of existing citizen science initiatives with both seagrass restoration and native oyster recovery.
This role will suit anyone who is passionate about our coastal and marine environments and who wants to generate that same passion in others across generations. You will be approachable, proactive and a confident communicator who is keen to work with people to help create meaningful connections to the Ocean.
This is a fixed term position from December 2026 to November 2027. Strong applicants who meet the essential criteria will be invited for interview. Hourly wage is £13.00 working 28 hours a week.
The role is based within the Falmouth area, working in locations across the SAC. Access to an insured vehicle is essential, with a willingness to work outdoors. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as the role will require delivering activities at weekends and public holidays when required. You will be provided with the necessary resources and support from the Blue Meadows Community Engagement Manager and the wider Blue Meadows team.
