The Ocean Conservation Trust is a global ocean conservation charity committed to restoring and protecting the Ocean. We aim to conserve the marine environment with a vision of supporting a healthy Ocean to sustain all life.

The Ocean Habitat Restoration team, Blue Meadows, uses a holistic approach to seagrass protection, regeneration, and restoration at scale, delivering the UK’s largest seagrass restoration programme. Our five-year goal, ending in 2027, is to protect 700 hectares and develop a blueprint for large-scale restoration of this vital habitat.

We’re looking for a hardworking individual to join our Ocean Habitat Restoration team as a Seagrass Aquaculture Technician – Volunteer Coordinator (SAT-VC). This role is ideal for someone passionate about working hands-on with seagrass cultivation and aquaculture systems whilst engaging others in active marine conservation.

This role would suit someone who is a dedicated and hardworking individual passionate about marine and coastal wildlife and habitats, and who is eager to contribute to our technician team by cultivating seagrass plants and maintaining aquaculture systems. In addition to the technical aspects, the successful candidate will play a key role in people-focused work and community engagement, helping to coordinate our volunteer and internship programmes, a vital component of conservation success.

This is a full- time permanent position (37.5 hours per week) that will be based at our seagrass growing facility in Plymouth and Torbay. The salary is £24,960 per annum. There will be a requirement to travel as part of the team to deliver our seagrass initiative, working hours and workloads will vary. Flexibility is essential at peak times, for example before planting periods. High standards of quality and quantity control are essential, and tight deadlines must be met, resilience in the face of challenge is essential for this role. A degree in a relevant field and a knowledge of the seagrass conservation would be an advantage.
