Blue Meadows is a holistic approach to seagrass protection, regeneration and restoration at scale, delivering the UK’s largest seagrass restoration programme. Over the next 5 years our goal is to protect 700 hectares and develop a blueprint for large scale restoration of this vital habitat.
For Blue Meadows to succeed, we recognise that it is essential for us to engage the community with the importance of protecting and restoring seagrass. We are looking for an exceptional individual who is to continue the development of and lead on the community engagement programme for Blue Meadows along the Southwest coast of the UK. This role is all about communication and engagement, both in person and digitally, working alongside those who directly impact the seagrass, to develop joint plans for its protection. As well as this, you will need to develop professional working relationships with local authorities, businesses and others with a vested interest in the health of the seagrass habitat.
In the wider community, the post holder will need to be approachable and engaging, and happy to work on the ground delivering outstanding community conservation activities to encourage pro-Ocean behaviours.
It will also be essential to build solid working relationships with the team at the Ocean Conservation Trust to ensure the best success for Blue Meadows.
You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic to generate long-term working relationships with all stakeholders. Project management skills and experience in coordinating place-based projects and supporting delivery teams is essential. Experience of producing content for social media channels, newsletters and other written communications is required.
You will need to be a self-starter, as much of the time you will be working autonomously and managing your own time. You will be provided with the necessary resources and support from the team based in Plymouth.
This is a permanent position for 37.5 hours per week. The salary will range from £27,000 – £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
The role will be office based to begin with until processes and working relationships have been established, after which hybrid working will be considered.
