Our talented team of Ocean Discovery Rangers appear at a wide range of events and festivals across the UK. Using their communication and engagement skills. We use fun and interactive sessions to communicate Ocean messaging, with or without the Ocean nearby.
Outreach and community engagement is a huge part of what our charity does. Engaging visitors at events is often a hard and challenging experience, but our dedicated team are experts in creating a fun environment that can explain or demonstrate a specific goal or point.
Our involvement with the Volvo Ocean Race is a good example of this in action. Cardiff City Council wanted to ensure that Ocean conservation was embedded into the Race Village when the event visited their city. To make this happen, our team members became the first ports of call to act as Ocean conservation ambassadors across the Race Village site. Not only did they ensure a cohesive Ocean conservation message was communicated throughout, but they successfully supported a fun and engaging atmosphere, giving guests and visitors a memorable experience from start to finish.
Over the course of the week, over a quarter of a million visitors attended the village, many of whom took part in our interactive race competition, which was designed to help children and adults learn about the race course, the boats themselves and how currents carry wildlife – and sadly, plastic waste – around the world.
How will this help the Ocean?
Being connected to the Ocean is an important part of the pathway towards protecting it. Our team give people the opportunity to experience the Ocean in land and start them on their Ocean conservation journey.
If you have an event – no matter what size, that needs an Ocean conservation twist, then get in touch with our team. Specific evaluation can be delivered to ascertain the impact of your event, and we can help you to design your own activities or help to bring your existing plans to life.
How you can help?
Our Ocean Discovery Rangers inspire and engage at every event they attend, but attending events costs our charity money. To allow us to continue bringing the Ocean inland and to make sure that we can connect people everyday to the importance of the Ocean, please consider donating to our charity.
