Our award winning Ocean Squad programme has been designed to give teenagers a meaningful connection to the Ocean via fun experiences, inspirational learning and building new friendships with other likeminded young people.
Young Carers Sessions
Following the success of the programme in 2017 and 2018, we were very pleased to receive funding from The Big Lottery. This allowed us to provide a specially tailoer Ocean Squad for Your Carers.
The Young Carers tried snorkelling, took a boat trip around Plymouth Sound, cooked sustainable seafood and explored the local beaches – activities that most of them had never had the chance to experience before.
As well as outdoor learning, we also invited them into our Aquarium where they had the chance to explore Back of House areas normally off limits to our visitors.
How does this help the Ocean?
The future of our Ocean will be in the hands of the next generation. Our Ocean Squad programme connects young teens with the Ocean, starting them on their journey of Ocean conservation.
