Everything we do at the National Marine Aquarium is to drive forward our mission.

Each team and department are vital to our goals. We’re not like other UK aquariums as we’re independently funded through ticketing income.

This means our programmes and work align with our charity’s ethos, meaning everything we do connects with research, education or conservation.

Our Shop on the Shore

We were one of the first UK visitor attractions to practise what we preach removing all single use plastic from our products and only selling sustainably source Ocean friendly products.

From the cuddly toys made of recycled plastic bottles, to the bees wax wraps there’s a whole host of fantastic options for gifts and self love! We’ll be launching our online shop soon, but if you’re in Plymouth, why not pop in and visit? You don’t need a ticket to the Aquarium to visit our shop.

Our Waves Cafe

We’ve won sustainability tourism awards for our catering offering. From closed loop recycled food waste, no single use plastic options and plant based choices, we try to ensure that a visit to our Aquarium gives people from all walks of life the choice of Ocean friendly options.

Our Wellbeing Events Programme

A visit to the Aquarium should be accessible to all. We ensure that a day trip to our charity is wheelchair friendly, with sign language species ID points around the building too. On top of this, we offer an out of hours programme of events.

Quiet at the Aquarium

Quiet at the Aquarium is an event where we open our doors for a special two hour after hours session, that allows families and people with autism and other sensory needs to enjoy our exhibits without the noise and distraction of our daily shows.

Yoga at the Aquarium

We run two different yoga sessions monthly at our aquarium. These sessions are designed to allow relaxation and wellbeing in a unique and inclusive setting. You can find out more here.
