Looking for an end of term festive treat for your pupils? Why not join us for an ‘Underwater Wonderland’ virtual tour of the National Marine Aquarium!
Our hour-long Underwater Wonderland Festive Tour will allow your KS1 and KS2 pupils to explore the Ocean for themselves – from the comfort of their own classroom! During this fun-filled virtual session, they will discover weird and wonderful festive facts about our fascinating sea creatures, crack our Christmas code, and will be able to ask questions about their favourite creatures!
Your journey will begin in our Plymouth Sound exhibit, where pupils will encounter some of our much loved, and most charismatic local life around the British Coasts. After this, they will move on to the largest tank in the whole of the United Kingdom – our Atlantic Ocean exhibit. Here, they will get a close-up look at our turtle, stingrays and sharks!
When are the Underwater Wonderland virtual tours taking place?
- Every Monday in December from 13:30-14:30 (during term time)
- Every Friday in December from 9:30-10:30 (during term time)
What do I need to join the tour?
Participants will need to ensure they have access to a computer connected to a SMART board/TV, as well as adequate audio projection (speakers) within the classroom. The tours will be delivered in Zoom, so a Zoom account is recommended for the best experience (a free account is fine). A microphone and/or keyboard to ask and answer questions is recommended, but not essential.
Will there be other schools joining the tour?
The tours are open to multiple schools at the same time, so we will be responding to some of their questions as well as yours. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of time to ensure your questions get answered throughout the tour!
Are there any follow up resources?
Teachers will receive resources for a creative follow-up activity, which will involve pupils decorating their own marine-themed Christmas tree display!
How much does it cost to sign up?
It costs £50.00 per class of up to 32 pupils (including VAT). You will be invoiced after the tour has taken place.
How do I book?
