Bringing the Ocean to Your Classroom!

In 2019, Plymouth Sound became the UK’s first National Marine Park, igniting a passion for marine conservation and education throughout the region. Now, we’re bringing this excitement to you!

Thanks to generous funding from the Edina Trust, we are offering the Climate Roadshow, a unique opportunity for schools within PL (Plymouth) Area: PL10 1BG to PL21 9PZ or TQ (Torquay) Area: TQ7 1NL to TQ13 7LY.

Is your school within this area? Is your class upper KS2? Then this is your chance to book a place for your students to discover the importance of their local blue space—Plymouth Sound National Marine Park—and learn how they can be heroes in the fight against climate change.

What to Expect from the Roadshow

Our roadshow is an exciting, interactive experience for students and teachers alike. Here’s what your school can look forward to:

Energy Investigators Workshop

  • Jaw-dropping combustion demonstrations will help explain how energy is generated.
  • Get involved with hands-on practical investigations, exploring the cause and effect of climate change
  • Meet our superhero seagrass and learn how it helps to reduce carbon emissions and moving towards a carbon-neutral future.
  • Links to KS2 National Curriculum: The workshop complements classroom learning in science, geography, and sustainability.

Climate Heroes Show

  • After the workshop, your entire school will be invited to our Climate Heroes Show
  • Learn how small actions, like reducing meat consumption or saving energy, can make a big impact on climate change.
  • Inspire students to become Climate Heroes in their everyday lives!

Why Join the Roadshow?

  • Completely Free of charge: If your school falls within PL (Plymouth) Area: PL10 1BG to PL21 9PZ or TQ (Torquay) Area: TQ7 1NL to TQ13 7LY, this roadshow is designed for you, funded to ensure all local children can connect with their blue space.
  • Over 2,600 pupils already reached: Join the 790 pupils who became Energy Investigators and the 1,899 students who attended the Climate Heroes show in 2023!
  • Leave a Legacy: With CPD (Continued Professional Development) days for teachers, we ensure that educators can continue to inspire future generations of ocean-literate students long after our visit.
