Tune in live to find out about our guests’ career pathways, see behind the scenes footage of their roles, and get the chance for your class to send in questions for the panel.
Your students will learn about the variety of roles available in marine science and understand the importance of having a diverse team in science disciplines.
World Book Day

Bring some extra magic to your World Book Day with this virtual session live from the National Marine Aquarium!
Tuning in from their enchanting mermaid cave, one of our resident mermaids will bring the wonders of the Ocean straight to your classroom. With a unique story covering a range of topics linked to the EYFS Statutory Framework and Key Stage 1 curriculum. this session will both inspire and educate.
Careers Week
March 3rd- 7th 2025
With over 100 staff members in diverse roles, students will discover career opportunities they might not have considered at our attraction and conservation charity. They’ll get a behind-the-scenes look and meet the team that makes it all happen.
While exploring careers, your schools officer will incorporate insights into a variety of career paths, relevant school subjects, qualifications, and experiences in further and higher education. Tours can then be followed by workshops which not only link to the national curriculum, but which highlight skills and experiences relevant to different careers such as engineering, marine biology and science communication.
British Science Week
March 10th-14th 2025
This years theme is “Adapt and Change,” focusing on the Ocean’s diverse and ever-changing environment.
In the lead up to British Science Week, teachers can download our free activity plans for hands-on classroom activities exploring physical and chemical changes in the Ocean. These resources align with the National Curriculum’s “working scientifically” requirements, immersing students in Ocean science.
From March 10-14, 2025, the National Marine Aquarium will bring the excitement to local schools with live shows featuring demonstrations and interactive experiences building on content from the downloadable resources. Don’t miss out!
