A little bit of help, makes a big splash!
A Dip in the Sea from the OCT is our campaign to support local communities to access the things they might need to engage with our Ocean.
The items that many of us take for granted when considering a trip to the seaside, are just the sort of things that are holding many people back. We believe no-one should be excluded from accessing the Ocean. So, a way we can help overcome some of the barriers is to provide swimwear – simple!
By donating swim wear you no longer use, we will ensure it reaches those who really need it, supporting more people to #thinkOcean and fall in love with our coastline.
Items we’d love to receive:
- Swimming costumes/trunks
- Swimming caps
- Beach shoes
- Wetsuits
- Buoyancy aids
- Swim shoes
- Towels
- Goggles
- Buckets/spades
If the item you would like to donate isn’t on the list, but you think it will make a beach experience more fun, then please do drop it in! We would be happy to accept wintery beach accessories, such as wellies, for those colder trips to the beach too!
Please ensure all donations are in good condition, with no tears, holes, or marks.
Our free swim packs will be hand delivered to Wellbeing Hubs to help local communities connect with and enjoy our Ocean.
Where can I drop off my donations?
We are working on having multiple donation sites across the city, but for now the best place is at our OCT HQ at the National Marine Aquarium. You don’t need a ticket to the aquarium to drop off your donation, simply pop in to our gift shop and drop it into our donations box, or speak to a member of the team at our front desk and they will happily drop your items into our donation box. There is also a drop off point at Plympton Pool. We can also accept donations via post, just pop us a message for our postal address!
Where can I pick up a free swim pack?
Contact community@oceanconservationtrust.org to organise free swim pack/s for you or your local group.
